I've been taking Retin-A-Micro for acne for the past 6 months and recently I started using Clindamycin as well. Its really helped a lot! But my face is soooo dry and im not sure what the best route is for make up (liquid foundation, powdered, or even what type of powder cover up works well) Any suggestions or feedback on make-up and moisturizers used when on Retin-A-Micro is greatly appreciated!!!! :)What's the best type of make-up (loose powder cover up) for dry skin?
A good pre make up routine is important to prep the skin. Exfoliate gently to remove flaky skin. Dont overdo. Gentle toner, Moisturiser - Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is Best as an overnight treatment too! Massage %26amp; Work it into skin. For daytime before foundation this works well too- Use a tiny bit as a little goes a long way. Use as above, massage well into skin. Also, I recommend powder for makeup, and a little bit of coverup if needed :]What's the best type of make-up (loose powder cover up) for dry skin?
powdered. use bare minerals. hope this helps
Well if your skin is dry, you NEED to use a facial moisturizer. I've used the Retin-A before and I agree that it is very drying. I swear by a moisturizer called Cetaphil. I get the kind for dry and sensitive skin even though I don't have sensitive skin because when you are using several different formulas on your face like moisturizer and different makeups (not to mention acne treatments) your face can get very irritated and even more dry. You can pick up Cetaphil at any drugstore; it's about $7 and the bottle will last a very long time. Keep in mind that it doesn't clog your pores and keeps your face smooth and flake free...even in the coldest of all winters. I'm sure your face is pretty clear by now, maybe you have a few scars from the acne but you shouldn't need very much cover-up makeup. I would suggest using a tinted moisturizer or a liquid foundation if you need more coverage. I would discourage you from using cream foundations because they clog your pores. I would also suggest putting a light dusting of either loose or pressed powder over your moisturizer or foundation to give you a more polished look. If you do this, use a powder brush and not the little puff they give you with the powder. I've used the bare essentials and it did absolutly nothing for my skin. If you need to cover acne scars I would not use this, but to hide shine it works very well. Personally I like to use the Cetaphil and I use a pressed powder (I like stilla pressed powder and a less expensive version, cover girl) to even out my skin tone and reduce shine. That may work well for you as well. I hope this answer will be of help to you.
All powder are going to accentuate dryness and flakey spots, so you have to take care of your dry skin first--prep your skin first, use an exfoliator that contains AHA--alpha hydroxy acid, it removes dead skin cells while leaving healthy skin cells alone. I use a 10% glycolic acid AHA cream, it helps a lot. Use a good moisturizer and a primer, a foundation primer will help your powder go on more smoothly and look better.

i really like to use first off a good moisturizer. i like almays it comes in a light purple bottle. you can get it at wallmart. but rice powder is really good. it makes it so your skin doesnt look shiny, but it gives it a flawless look. plus if you dont want to get it with a ';color'; they make it translucent or you can get tinted ones. i bought mine at a local salon supply store. its pretty cheap too.
hope it helped

It sounds counter-intuitive but I would avoid liquid foundation on dry skin. Because your skin is dry any liquid or tinted moisurizer would just get sucked into the skin as hydration leaving you with potentially clogged pores and no foundation.
Try using Bare Escentuals or some other type of mineral makeup. The foundation contains a limited sunscreen (SPF 15) and the benefit of mineral makeup is that it is very easy on the skin, very light and sits on top of the face.
I would use it in combination with some type of primer like Smashboxes' ';Photo Finish'; or Laura Geller's ';Spackle';. A primer helps smooth out the skin and create a kind of protective barrier between your skin and the foundation that ultimately leads to your foundation lasting and staying on longer.
You definitely need a mositurizer but I am uncertain what type to use that would be okay with Retin-A-Micro. I like the DDF line. Have you tried going onto www.Sephora.com and checking it out? They have some hmtls that walk you through the best type of products to get if your skin is dry. Granted their products are pricey - but maybe you'll get some ideas.
BEST THING TO DO- Lotion and then a LITE powder (so that the lotion doesn't doesn't give you a gross-o glare.) and also WASH IT OFF EVERY NIGHT!!
