How does misting your face after foundation and loose powder help ';set'; your makeup?

It can help set your make up - powder includes ingredients such as talc and fine clays. I am not into going to give a chemistry lesson. Put simply, the properties of clays and talc will react with the misted water, just like if you add water to flour, and the clay particles stick to the skin and each other. As a result when the mixture dries on the skin it is a slightly changed product.

I'm not the only one who finds it works ....

鈥?Make-up artist Glauca Rossi, who now runs her own make-up school in London, sets foundation and powder by spritzing with mineral water. (If you don鈥檛 want to splash out

on a can of Evian spray, fill a plant mister with mineral water, instead.)

鈥?Manhattan make-up pro Fulvia Farolfi believes in fixing foundation with an Evian spray, too. She then blots cheeks and forehead with a tissue to absorb any excess moisture.

鈥?Your foundation disappears? Vanishing make-up can be the result of either very dry or very oily skin, according to New York make-up artist Lynne Geller. Dry skin is so thirsty for moisture that it literally soaks up cosmetics. To combat the problem, Geller recommends choosing make-up formulations with creamy textures. Misting your face regularly with an Evian spray or a plant mister can help, too. With oily skin, enlarged pores allow make-up to seep right into your skin. Excess oils can tamper with the texture, making it rub off easily every time you touch your face. Skip the moisturiser and look for an oil-free formula - or consider all-in-one make-up/powder formulations, which are less likely to be absorbed into the skin (see Make-Up on the Go, p.00).How does misting your face after foundation and loose powder help ';set'; your makeup?
I don't know too much about misting the face after foundation. But I use loose powder after applying foundation to give it more of a matte finish. If you use the right foundation, you don't need to do anything else to it to make sure that it stays on and looking good throughout the day. Try Mary Kay's Foundations. How does misting your face after foundation and loose powder help ';set'; your makeup?
I've never heard of doing that after makeup. Sounds like your makeups going to smear. Although misting you face before makeup will make you skin look fresh and awake because the cold water will tighten your pores.
its doesnt things that claim that are not true. a simple way to freshen makeup uis using BLOT papers clean and clear make good ones and then ppat some invisible mattifyer like BENEFIT DR. FEELGOOD or HARD CANdY BLOT its the purple powder that goes clear. then smooth som pressed powder where some more coverage is needed or to keep shine way longer.

Has anyone tried CoverGirl TruBlend Loose Mineral Powder in Fair?

I heard it's the most neutral of the shades and I'm hoping that means the lightest and least pinkish.Has anyone tried CoverGirl TruBlend Loose Mineral Powder in Fair?
I have used it. It isnt the most neutral color, but it isnt as pink as most fair powders are. I use it with a big wide brush to put on so its not so intense.Has anyone tried CoverGirl TruBlend Loose Mineral Powder in Fair?
I used it, and it didn't give me break outs, it had good coverage also, the only reason i switched is because my mom bought Purity mineral make-up from one of those commercials. It works like bare minerals and its amazingg!!

And you don't even have to get fair to look natural just the one above it and it comes with mineral blush and the sheer to go over afterwards. hope i helped
Any mineral powder doesn't suit to me .. All i got from them is breakouts. i tried the most expensive %26amp; one in the drug stores..

Plus they give coverage alright but not as they show u in adds... as u can get from a foundation.. If u need for a daily lil touch up it will be fine %26amp; u can have it on in few sec's %26amp; u r good to go.... but if u r going to aparty or something or need a full coverage i wont recommand it.
I use it.. and it works great. I used to use Bare Minerals and it was like 30 bucks a container, so to save money I used the CG, and like it just as much, if not better.

I love it cus it kinda makes your fave gleam like glitter
ive tried it in fair and it was too light for me so i had to go a shade darker but yes it is pretty neutral and it works great too. hope i helped.
it means that it's the lightest

and that it's not pinkish/reddish

but not yellow/brownish/warmish

What is the difference between the mineral makeup brand finishing veil vs. just loose powder?

same thing, dork.

loose powder is more fluffy.

finishing veil is more like pressed powder.

essentially the same thing.

How to apply loose powder eye shadow and make it last and stay?

???How to apply loose powder eye shadow and make it last and stay?
There are several brands of makeup that sell a eye shadow primer. Mary Kay for one. I use it as a base to my powder eyeshadow, and 10 hours later, my eyes are still as fresh looking as they were when I put my shadow on. You can go to www.marykay.com and search products. If you do know of a consultant, you can also search for one on the site that is located next to you.

Also, its not a good idea to put foundation on your eyelids. This can cause some drying on the lids, and since the lids and under the lids is the most delicate skin on your face, it will be more prone to wrinkling. Only use eye products on your eyes. In years down the road you will want youthful looking eyes! How to apply loose powder eye shadow and make it last and stay?
i put foundation on my eye lids before i put the shadow on. both powder and liquid foundation works for me
i dont think thats posible.
With a trowel
put a light coating of foundation on your eyelids before the powder. you can also try a very light dusting of transluscent powder over the eye makeup to set it further
I'm not sure if loose powder can stay very long. I would try taking a brush, dipping it into the powder, and then combining it with some petroleum jelly. Voila! Instant cream eyeshadow that lasts for hours.
Use some eye cream first, then apply with a soft brush. You could also look for an ';eye primer'; which goes on as a cream under your powder. I know Mary Kay sells such a product. Good luck!!
mix it with a very tiny bit of lipgloss and apply it with an eyeshadow brush
good question, i have no idea but you should try the cream ones instead.
To get your powder eye shadow to stay on use your foundation on your eyelids first so it has something to stick to. Apply lightly and it will stay all day as long as you don't rub your eyes.

janet
when i was younger i used to put a little dab of chapstick on my eyelids to make it stick, then i found out they actually have a product for that lol..i have a smashbox concelor stick that works great though, look it up at sephora.com
Well i know by experience that when I wear loose powder eye shadow it sometimes creases by mid day so I bought this base stuff, I put on my eye lids before I put on my eye makeup.

If I am going out for the night I will often sweep some light loose powder over my eyes to help the make up stay in place.

Hope that helps!
Seriously...get a MAC shadestick and then use a brush to apply...it will stay on all day with no crease!
Try dabbing a trickle of water on the edge of the brush and then dabbing it on a paper towel. Then apply. It stays on longer and it's easier to apply. I love doing it, it really works for me.
The makeup artists use a small white makeup sheet and put it under the bottom eyelashes to catch the loose powder so it don't go every where, hope this works for you.
First, put on a creamish eye shadow. It can be the color of the shadow you're putting on, or it can be a skin color. Then put on the eye shadow. I hope this helps, it always works for me.

What's the difference between ';Pressed Face Powder'; & ';Loose Face Powder';?

I have never tried any loose powder, and only use pressed powder after foundation. Just wondering what's the difference between these two products in terms of ';result';?

Could anyone do a brief comparsion for me please? thx! What's the difference between ';Pressed Face Powder'; %26amp; ';Loose Face Powder';?
Pressed face powder-a powder for on the go. used for quick touch ups an blotting shine throughout the day. can be a lil heavier depending on how u apply and how much u apply.

Loose face powder-a powder for in the morning after you foundation and/or concealer. its a powder that stays at home. its a lighter more airy and less heavy powder than pressed. it gives you a light feel rather than a caked on feel.

result 4 loose powder=light, natural, well blended look

result 4 pressed powder used in morning=heavier, more coverage, possibly slightly cakey. if u stay with pressed powder i suggest u use a powder brush to blend it or to apply it.

result 4 pressed powder on-the-go=blots shine, keeps skin matte

For in the morning after your foundation and/or concealer i think you'll get a better result if u use the loose powder and keep a pressed powder for on the go. good luck!!!What's the difference between ';Pressed Face Powder'; %26amp; ';Loose Face Powder';?
loose powder as its name says is loose...is feels like putting powder eyeshadow on your face...pressed powder is very more compact because it has a little bit of moisture in it but loose powder doesnt..they both work the same but i would recommend pressed powder if the skin on your face is a little on the dry side.
pressed powder usually comes in compacts, and is thicker, and offers more coverage.

loose face powder is in a jar or other plastic container, and it used after you put concealor on.
Not much difference in result.Ususally you get more product with loose in terms of weight for the same price as pressed.
well you apply them differently but you get just about the same result

loose-gives off more of a airbrush effect

pressed-gives off more of a matte effect
Too good to apply it all over the neck %26amp; the shoulders...
pressed one is easy to use
there isn't alot of difference, pressed is for on top (like bronzer) and looses is for underneath to even complexion

Pressed powder or loose powder for setting concealer?

Should I use pressed powder or loose powder to set my concealer?

I was thinking of going for Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Transparent.

I need it to be as invisible as possible because I'm a guy lolPressed powder or loose powder for setting concealer?
pressed powder is to press the foundation to ur face-like liquid foundation

loose powder u should apply it to under ur eyes after u apply ur concealer to set it

u can also apply loose powder to ur entire face in the morningPressed powder or loose powder for setting concealer?
Use loose powder to set it. If you use pressed powder, then it would look chalky and cakey since concealer and pressed powder dont go together.
  • can dogs eat celery
  • What is loose powder for and how do i use it?

I assume if you say ';loose'; powder you mean facial powder since we have pressed or cream powder for face only. :)

Face Powder will help set your makeup and keep it on longer. Your skin will feel smoother and look more natural when you use face powder.

There are two forms of face powder: pressed powder and loose powder. Face powder will absorb oils and your makeup will last longer.

Loose powder is the best for setting your makeup when it is first applied. It is also the best option if you have oily skin. Loose powder contains more oil absorbers than pressed powder.

Pressed powder is easier and less messy than loose powder. Pressed is a great choice for traveling and for touch ups throughout the day.

The finer quality of powder you can find the better it will work. Finer milled powders feel softer to skin and will not settle into fine lines as much as the thicker kind.

Powder is best applied with a powder puff. The powder puff provides more even coverage. You can also use a sponge, brush and even your fingers. You fingers are actually the best tools to apply face powder under the eyes.

I hope this will help. :)What is loose powder for and how do i use it?
Loose powder is used to set makeup so it lasts longer throughout the day. It is applied after your foundation. Take a large powder brush and tap the excess powder off the brush, then buff your face with the powder brush. Hope that helps! :)What is loose powder for and how do i use it?
Oh, I love loose powder. My new favorite is L'Oreal's bare Naturals. I apply it over top of my liquid makeup, and it really evens out skin tone and covers blemishes. I also like Cover Girl True Match luminous powder, it covers well and gives me some color, as I am very fair skinned. Have fun and experiment. Just remember to apply in a circular motion and use a little at a time to achieve the look you want.
sweetie, loose powder helps take the shine from oil from your face , it also seals your make up helping it stay put much longer, use a large soft blush brush to put it on , very light over make up, use a color close to your make up shade. good luck, and GOD BLESS.
If your talking about loose face powder you put it on your face with a powder puff or brush after liquid make up is applied. If your talking about body powder then you put it all over your body to prevent odors from perspertation, and rashes, or just to smell good.
Loose powder is used to set your liquid foundation. Many people apply with a brush, which does the job, but I have found you get a more even look if you use your hands. This will get messy so make sure your clothing is protected. Shake some of the powder into your hand so you have a little pile. Then rub your hands together, then rub your face with your hands like you are washing your face. It may sound a little crazy, but the end result is really nice. Good luck!!
I think I know what you are talking about, you put on your face and you apply it with a powder puff.

If you are using a mineral foundation do you need to use loose powder aswell?

NO LOOSE POWDER IS FOR GETTING RID OF SHINEIf you are using a mineral foundation do you need to use loose powder aswell?
If you are using mineral powder foundation, you would not use powder over it.If you are using a mineral foundation do you need to use loose powder aswell?
If you are using a liquid foundation you need a pressed or loose powder.
no the mineral foundation is enough

How to apply loose glitter powder?

So, I bought this little glitter powder from Claire's. And I was wondering, how I would apply it on my eyelids? Like what do I put on first, so then when I apply the glitter powder, it dosent fall off?How to apply loose glitter powder?
unless you 12 glitter is so immature looking! How to apply loose glitter powder?
Try either an eyeshadow primer, or a cream eyeshadow. Then, before it dries completely, pat the glitter on using either your finger, or a small shadow brush. You could also mix some of the glitter into a sheer moisturizer or foundation, and apply that to the lids. If you want to use it as a glittery eyeliner, put a small line of false eyelash glue along the lash line, and apply glitter over it. Just make sure that the glitter you purchased is intended for use near the eyes, you don't wanna get hurt!

Btw, I'm 25 %26amp; I love glitter, so ignore the haters.
There are only 2 conditions in which you'd where loose glitter powder:

    1.) You're in the 1970's or 80's

    2.) You're under 13
There is an eyeshadow primer you can buy. Try putting the glitter on when the primer is still slightly damp.

What is better for me? Pressed powder or loose powder?

I'm 15 years and I want to try either pressed or loose powder to control my shine. My face is quite oily and I don't know which is better for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? What is better for me? Pressed powder or loose powder?
Good Lord, stick with the pressed. If your powder gets loose, you may never recapture it ! And I'm sure you don't want to be known as the girl with the loose powder. What is better for me? Pressed powder or loose powder?
I think pressed powder is good for you
i always seem to go over the top with press powder and i always end up look cakey so id say use the loose powder it will control your shine and oil and you wont look like your wearing alot of makeup and loose powder never clogs up your skin
I use foundation the put on loose powder-(bare minimals)

Then I put on my blusher/bronzer and then dust over my face again with pressed powder-(Rimmel London)

The pressed powder has really controlled my shine. It is the translucent powder and makes my skin look really nice. I couldn't believe the difference it made to the look of my skin!!!
Wait til Christmas morning, might get one or both for Christmas presents.
OHHHHH.............bout that eeeeaaammmmm......I thing Pressed Powder right or not??????...........
I like true mineral makeup because it doesn't clog your pores and it has built in SPF in it. they have both loose and pressed. the loose provides a dewy finish and the pressed provides a more matte finish i like the pressed its less messy and it helps the oil shine stay away for 8 hours or so then i only have to re apply in my t area every 8 hours.
The pressed power will be best for you oily skin. But make sure you throughly clean your face and use an astringent before applying any makeup
Oh, you sed that youve got kinda oily face! First you should use a face cream whith hydro-balance system, who eliminates the sebum excess.

And I think that pressed powder is much better than the loose one!

    Good luck and merry Christmass!
I suggest you talk to a beauty advisor - there should be such people in your local department store. Go to more than one. Also ask your mum or another trusted relative for advice.
Pressed powder is a whole lot better. Loose powder is too light and it is only suitable to set your makeup.
pressed powder is used more as a foundation I would suggest you use loose powder for shine control just use something close to you skin tone
    loose
if u have oily skin i would recomend a loose powder sure you get a good applicato doesnt have to be expensive tho

lightly dust ut on with a brush or for more coverage sponge it on
Bare Essentuals, its a mineral powder... i have skin problems too, and i find that this one doenst irritate my skin, but then it does leave me looking looking oily sometimes (BUT SKIN LOOKS FLAWLESS %26amp; its all natural minerals.) I think i read somewhere that pressed powder is better for oily skin though.
You can use either. I suggest that whatever you decide you apply it with a powder brush instead of a sponge. Mary Kay has a great product that removes shine called Oil Mattifier and they also have Beauty Blotters that you can remove oil from your face without messing up your makeup. Hope this helps.

    How to apply loose powder?

    * What would be the diiference between using a puff or a brush? How to apply loose powder?
A puff will give a more thorough coverage, and you will have less control over the distribution of the powder, which could leave a cakey, overdone finish. I'd recommend using a brush instead. Gently gather a small amount onto the brush, tap off the excess then lightly sweep over the areas of your face where needed. If you like, you could use a puff to blot away the excess afterwards and give a smoother finish. How to apply loose powder?
u are so good Report Abuse

a brush will more evenly distribute your powder. A puff is for blotting the excess oils.
To apply loose powder you need a good blush brush. Apply all over face %26amp;%26amp; rub in good, or else you might look like sloppy. Also if your color is to dark you can see the make-up line, %26amp; if it is too light you look like a ghost. So try to find the one in your shade.

    Hope this helps. Lol
You are better off using a face and body brush. Dip the tip of the brush into the powder, gently tap the brush to remove excess powder. Always work downwards when applying never brush upwards or the tiny hairs which cover your face will stand up and make you look furry!

    Hope this helps
well i find using a puff makes the powder more visable and you end of looking like an orange but i find if you use a brush it doesnt turn out so bad but heck with foundation or loose powder it only makes your skin worse!
your best bet is to use a puff then you are sure to get an even layer of powder.
    loosely lol
    a big fluffy brush
You take a big powder brush made for the face (sold at any drug store) . Lightly dip the brush into the powder then buff over your face....
    Loosely ;-)
A puff gives a more matt, flawless layer whilst a brush gives a lighter layer. Personally I gently pat it on with a puff and then brush over my face with a make-up brush to remove any excess.

A better thing to use and it's cheaper, get art supply brushes.

Lowe Cornell has brushes that are MAC duplicates. Same hair used and everything. And get this, instead of buying a freaking 30 dollar brush, you can order them for about 1-4 bucks.

    Try Rexart.com

and if you need to know which brushes are duplicates for which MAC brushes, get a pen and pencil and check out this tutorial from youtube, Koren did a video about which ones are the exact duplicates:

I have a MAC studio fix liquid foundation and mineralize loose powder. Should I get the studio fix compact?

I am goin back to school soon and I was thinking should i get a studio fix compact too for travel or even on bz days, just a compact will do rather than liquid n loose powder? Or am I wasting money and should just use them till its finished?I have a MAC studio fix liquid foundation and mineralize loose powder. Should I get the studio fix compact?
same as me! I use studio fix liquid and mineralize powder, I think the compact is good because it's handy and portable, but the finish with the liquid and powder is better. I would use up what you've got (no point wasting such great make up or money) then maybe try the compact. If you take your time putting it on in the morning it should stay all day I have a MAC studio fix liquid foundation and mineralize loose powder. Should I get the studio fix compact?
your wasting your money wait til you finshish the product and I have the compact I think you should too the loose can get messy and get everywhere.
Studio Fix is SO FRIGGIN AMAZING!!!!

you are NOT in any way wasting money on the compact

    DO IT

    DO IT

    studio fix is my favriote.
why not..you can never have too much make...get the compact for school..and keep the other at home

Pressed powder foundation or Loose powder foundation or liquid ones and WHY?

They are different in how you apply them, but why would you use this and that? it depends on what???? and everybody told me to put mineral foundation since my skin has lots of acne, what is mineral foundation, are these the liquid ones??Pressed powder foundation or Loose powder foundation or liquid ones and WHY?
No, mineral foundations are crushed minerals that offer varying degrees of coverage depending on how much or what brand you are using and are far better for your skin considering they're mostly all natural. It's really good for those of us who have skin problems or conditions.

Definitely try mineral foundation, Maybelline mineral power foundation would be a good one to start with considering it's inexpensive. Some mineral foundations can cost up to 60$ but Maybelline is a general store brand so you should be able to find it at any drugstore or even walmart.

Personally, I use Everyday Minerals. It's a mineral foundation that has to be bought off of a website, but it's incredibly inexpensive, and it has great coverage and does not cause me to break out. I've found that liquid foundations run and can clog your pores. Powder foundations are terrible for dry or combination skin (which is what I have).Pressed powder foundation or Loose powder foundation or liquid ones and WHY?
when i do my makeup i put on my liquid foundation on first then i put on pressed powder foundation second...most people think if you use bout liquid and powder foundation it would look ';cakey'; on your face but if you learn to do makeup really well then it will look amazing i use covergirl TRUblend liquid foundation and estee lauder pressed powder and they work great together!
ok powder foundation is used to ';set'; the liquid, it provides an even top coat, and help to keep the liquid foundation from looking ';cakey';. most people are better off using both foundations, because powder doesn't really stay on if you use it by itself. alos, usually powder helps for oily skin, because it takes shine off and help to absorb some of the oils. mineral powder foundation is a powder (usually a loose powder) that is made naturally with mineral s that can benefit your skin. if you have acne, it is a good idea to use these, because it is very healthy for your skin, as it gives necessary minerals to have a nicer finish. however, usually this is powder.

    hope i helped!
liquid because to me it blends with your skin perfectly, but i recommend clean make up from cover girl it not expensive and I LOVE IT,for powder i say i like it when i want to Enhancee my natural glow,so irecommendd mary kay mineral powder it works like magic
    TruBlend liquid is the bomb!

It goes on smooth, looks so natural, and doesn't come off when you touch it!

Have you ever tried Mineral Essence Loose Powder Foundation? what is your review on that product?

I have been using MIneral Essence Loose Foundation for like a year now.I like the way it covers any blemishes on my face but My only problem is its too shiny on me and sticky on my face. I really have a very oily skin thats why it is so shiny on me. It cant control the shine on my face. so I dont know if I should switch now.Have you ever tried Mineral Essence Loose Powder Foundation? what is your review on that product?
well ive been using Dinair Airbrush Makeup for 2 years now and i LOVE it!! It makes my skin look flawless and lasts all day...its also all water based so its not bad for ur skin...i know they have this product that traps oil as its produced and gets rid of it...u just put it under ur makeup. If u just google Dinair you'll find their site and u can look through it. Hope I helped.

Whats the difference between loose powder and powder foundation?

my sister got me this tru blend naturally luminous loose powder for my birthday (in translucent fair)

but i already have maybelline mineral powder foundation (loose powder also)

is the tru blend stuff powder foundation? it doesnt say foundation anywhere on the thing, so im not sure exactly what its for. anyone know?Whats the difference between loose powder and powder foundation?
Try it on your face, if it doesnt cover and its just a translucent or slightly skin toned powder, then it's just used to set liquid foundation, you apply it after applying the liquid foundation, it is not a foundation itself.Whats the difference between loose powder and powder foundation?
usually if it doesnt say foundation anywhere, its a finishing powder. sometimes loose powders can give very sheer coverage, therefore are not considered either a powder or a foundation. if its the covergirl trublend minerals ur talking about its a foundation. if its the one with the slide off white cap its a powder. the one in a cylinder like container is a foundation. you can use the foundation, then some blush or bronzer, then use the powder, it helps to blend and make pores less appearent, or ';flawless finish'; as they say. remember to moisturize!

    hope i helped
if it doesnt say foundation anywhere on the lable it is not foundation. loose powder is more of a sheer cover and powder foundation is actual foundation just in powder form. So the tru blend is just more for sheer cover.
No, it is not a foundation.:)

A loose powder if often used as a

finishing touch to a finished makeup look.

You get a big brush(kabuki/foundation brush)

and dust it lightly all over your face to

make your makeup last way longer.:)

    and the maybelline mineral foundation

    gives you way more coverage.:)
Loose powder is a light powder formula used to cover shine and absorb oils. Powder foundation is a heavier powder used to even skin tone, hide flaws, etc. Powder foundation is an alternative to the liquids and cream foundations, although it generally does not cover as heavily (which, unless you have a lot of flaws, is a good thing... you don't want to look cakey.). Generally if you wear powder foundation you will not have a need for a loose powder on top as well.

    Hope this helps!
Transulent powder sets makeup. Its basically colorless. You can use it over you mineral make up to make it last longer like bare minerals mineral veil

please lemme know if you know :] i dont :pWhat's the difference between pressed and loose powder?
Loose powder has been air spun but in my opinion lasts longer, if you buy Coty or something like that.

Pressed powder is tightly packed, and women really can't carry loose powder in a purse as it can spill. What's the difference between pressed and loose powder?
Pressed powder is in a compact, and people most often use it for more full coverage, like a foundation.

Loose powder is like in a container that you apply with a brush, such as bare minerals.

I personally prefer loose over pressed, it helps set my makeup :)

    picture of loose powder:

pressed powder is not as messy as loose powder, plus it's in a smaller compact but, in my opinion loose powder is better absorbed into oily skin and gives a more 'airbrushed' look than pressed
Pressed powder is pressed and comes in a compact and loose powder comes in a jar and is...er...loose lol (ie you can spill it :p) Once it's on your face i think it's pretty much the same

If you can actually see that there is makeup on your face - you've put on too much.
The best way not to apply too much is by making sure your using the right amount. First swirl the powder in your brush, then tap off a little (most women forget this step) and then apply in swirling motion.

You want to apply it so that you should not even notice that your wearing powder. It should just look like healthy, non oily skin!
I would take one of those maginifying mirrors. Usually, when you can see each and every piece of the powder sitting on your face, then it's too much. Also if you turn a hair dryer on low [and cool] and place it about a foot from your face then you should be able to see whether it's too much judging on whether it's visible that a lot of it is coming off.

    %26lt;3hopethathelps. [:
when you can blow it off and when it gets stuck on your hand if you barely touch it.
when you touch it with your finger or clothes and get the powder on it
if you can see the particles on your face!
pat your face is powder flies off then it is too much but if it doesnt then you are just fine!!

stand in front of a mirrior when you do it!!

dont ever ask your mom or dad they will always tell you that you are wearing to much make-up when you arent!!!
U will know just look at the mirror

and see if u look like a paiting statue

    then that is too much
If you can see the powder on your face, there's too much. If you touch it with your finger and your finger has the color on it, it's too much.

It should be applied to look and blend in as naturally as possible.

Is is ok to use expired makeup kits; loose powder, compact powder, rouge, lipstick tc?

Normally the shelf life of comestic is two years, when we purchased it, it can be left with a few months or a year. By the time we used it, it can be three or four years. Is is ok to use expired makeup kits; loose powder, compact powder, rouge, lipstick tc?
Yes, if they look ok, then I think you can still use them.

I do all the time ;-)

If the powder looks cracked, or dry I wouldn't recommend using it or if mascara has dried up, don't use it.

Hope I helped ;-)Is is ok to use expired makeup kits; loose powder, compact powder, rouge, lipstick tc?
No I would not use it, it can make your skin break out.
wd u buy and use expired food from the supermarket or take expired medicines? u can see why that is a bad idea.

hint: buy makeup only when it runs out, use the makeover counters to experiment with new stuff so u dont end up purchasing stuff u hate.
expired make up isnt a good idea. its really bad for your skin.
no. it can cause all sorts of infections.
No. Never. There are chemicals in there that can really screw up your face once they get expired.
no you shouldn't use expired makeup. it could create skin rashes and whatnot.

Covergirl True Blend is really really nice. It has foundation and loose powder in the True Blend collection. The foundation lasts forever since it is like a moosey foundation you only need a tiny bit to cover your whole face. It looks natural as well and helped clear my skin up. Their powder is just as nice.
Have you ever tried Bare Minerals make-up? I think it great! I love it so much it feels like your not even wearing anything on your face, that's why I wear it. I also love that you can order it through the mail to. well good luck I hope this will help

One step face base is excellant. Personally dont like powder foundations but this works as a concealer %26amp; foundation %26amp; really hides blemishes etc
I like Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra. I'm using Chanel's Purete Mat as my powder, but it's a pressed powder.

What Mary Kay loose powder color matches with the medium coverage foundation 300?

Hi- I am using the Mary Kay medium coverage foundation 300. I want to match it with the correct Signature Loose Powder color- but I am not sure what that would be. Is it Ivory 1 or Ivory 2? Any help would be appreciated! What Mary Kay loose powder color matches with the medium coverage foundation 300?
300 is Beige foundation right? (I usually use that or 302). I find the Beige powder does a better job.

Call your consultant and give it a try. If it doesn't work well for you, your consultant shouldn't have any problem exchanging it for a different shade. What Mary Kay loose powder color matches with the medium coverage foundation 300?
Wearing foundation 300, you should use Beige 1. As you get darker your foundation will go up one shade...to 400. Never should your foundation go up in the 300 family as you get darker. Reason being is because 302 and on is for different skin tones (i.e. yellow and red tones).

What foundation stays on longer: pressed powder, loose powder, or liquid?

Please list sources. What foundation stays on longer: pressed powder, loose powder, or liquid?
I like mineral make-up, it makes your skin look a lot more natural and doesn't clog your pores. It works as a powder and foundation. Lasts all through my 10hr work day and I don't have to re-apply. Pur minerals is what I like, but the ever so popular Bare minerals isn't too bad. If you have oilier skin go for the Pur. But if you're going to use foundation for sure put a powder over it.What foundation stays on longer: pressed powder, loose powder, or liquid?
I personally prefer liquid and then I use some loose powder over it.

But any of them can stay on for the same amount of time.. I suggest using a primer to help your foundation stay in place. I use ';Laura Gellar Spackle Cream Under Makeup Primer'; and its great!

Its a bit pricey though..$23. You can get it at www.QVC.com

Of the three, liquid. But the two longest lasting foundations I've ever had were MAC Studio Fix Powder with a setting powder on top of it, and then Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse (it doesn't always stay all day... but it has before)
i use liquid foundation and then powder translucent and it lasts all day until i wash it off
probably liquid but I hate liquid! It makes my face look so fakeee. eww. I use pressed, and it works for like 3-4 hours depending on what your doing.
liquid, mine usually lasts from about 6am-7pm.

liquid, unless it mineral then the loose powder stays on almost as long
    !liquid stays longer!!!
Liquid it first. Powder your face when you get done. Lasts all afternoon.
I use bare minerals it works great stays on all day for me
i use maybelline dream matte mousse. it stays on awhile and makes ur skin look rlly clear, not fake.
yeah I agree..liquid then put a blot pwder over it...it last all day if its good quality makeup

  • What sort of brush to use for loose translucent powder?

I read that you can use a powder brush, a powder puff, a foundation brush, or a kabuki brush. Which one is best just for a light cover of translucent powder over tinted moisturiser?

thanks! What sort of brush to use for loose translucent powder?
A powder brush would work, but a kabuki brush would be better. Don't use one of those makeup wedges though, it won't spread the powder around correctly. What sort of brush to use for loose translucent powder?
I've got a pressed powder that came with a powder puff, I also use a mineral foundation with a kabuki brush, It could be good to use a Kabuki brush... not sure. I thought that translucent powder's use was to set the foundation on your face and absorb excess oils. So I don't know about the coverage, I imagine it's very sheer.
I use a powder brush at the moment but I think a kabuki would be better.
a kabuki brush is your best bet

    Loose Powder?

What's the best loose powder from a drugstore? I don't use it for my face, but I use it to soak up oil on my eyelid before applying eye shadow, eye liner, and shadow paint. So what would be the best one for me? And my skin is oily. Thanks (:Loose Powder?
N.Y.C. , enough said. it's only $2.99 at drugstores. the Translucent color is for lighter skin color, while the Naturally Beige color is for darker complexions. it controls oil AMAZINGLY well, so don't let the price tag fool you! my only complaint about it is that the top of the jar isn't a screw - top, so careful when you open it :].

if you have a makeupalley account, look it up! if you don't, you can sign up (it's free!) and look for product reviews.Loose Powder?
use a face wash that gets rid of an oily face not powder. The only reason I say that is becaise it might be used by makeup artists but powder can built up in your tear ducts and clog them. Yuck. But if you're going to do it you will...

If you're looking into skin care, I high suggest looking into vichy. Everything is pricy, but you'll notice a HUGE difference in your skin. Also, at your local shoppers drug mart, they should have samples of vichy products they can give to you for oily skin and you can ask them honestly about the powder... try the free samples tho... good luck!
Covergirl loose powder. Its like a god to me! Works so well and creates a ';glowing'; look. MAC powder works well also.

    Loose powder?

    is it effective

    does it clog poresLoose powder?
    you should get it

    good luckLoose powder?
Unfortunately, almost everything topically applied to the face will have some seepage into your skin, and pores being the micro crevices they are, will more often than not get clogged. The ';sweeping'; technique of applying face powder doesn't necessarily mean the fine particles will stay ';on top'; of the skin. I suggest using a natural loose powder without any fillers with ingredients like clay and zinc oxides which are actually good for your skin and shouldn't cause irritation. Everyday Minerals makes a really good product and they will send a free sampler of foundations if you just pay shipping. Bare Minerals is also good, but it contains bismuth oxychlorides which may irritate the skin. They are more pricey as well.

    Hope it helps!
it's used to help keep your foundation on. and it dosen't clog pore if you good foundation on.
    Yes it clogs up pores!!
if your using a small amount on a brush just to set your makeup i dont think it will! providing you remove your makeup properly at night, i think it should be fine!! it definately does keep your foundation in place, however it can look cakey so use it sparingly!! i would recommend the mac loose powders, in particular their new range '; of beauty '; its limited edition but it gives you a natural finish and also makes your skin glow! :) but thats just a suggestion! good luck
yes, it can clog pores IF you put too much on or dont clean it off well at the end of the day

What do ya'll think of loose powder foundation blush etc. Does it cover well and is it hard to apply?Loose powder?
It covers up great and it is way easier to apply than liquid. It mixs in a lot better. But make sure to to smother yourself in it, because if you put a TON on it looks greenish. Good Luck :)Loose powder?
I think that loose powder foundations and blushes are great-especially if you have oily skin. The key is not to apply too much because then it looks to obvious and blending is important too (but that's with any kind of makeup).
Is the loose powder foundation you're asking about a mineral foundation? Because if it is, there is a much better mineral makeup on the market call Christi Mar. This makeup is amazing! You don't have to guess on how to put it on, because it comes in a compact and you don't have to deal with that messy loose powder. Christi Mar's goes on smoothly and evenly, you get great coverage without feeling or looking like you're even wearing makeup. Its awesome, awesome, awesome! You can find it at www.christimarcosmetics.com
its so good it looks like u dont have any on and its easy to put on
    It covers very well.

But it can get very messy.

But i would choose loose over pressed.
Like Bare Minerals? I've heard from everyone who's tried it that Bare Minerals is great. I like to use the Neutragena loose mineral foundation, but I put a tinted moisturizer on before the powder. I get a great luminous look. Very pretty!

What's the best brush for loose powder?

I'm buying the Smashbox Halo perfecting powder and from what I've read people hate the mini kabuki that comes with it.

Write now I'm using a pressed powder and use it with Sonia Kashuk's powder brush. It's shedding a ton and getting really thin in the middle.

So what brush should I buy? What's the best brush for loose powder?
Get a Bare Minerals kabuki. They work sooo well, I have all of my friends addicted to them. They give you they perfect coverage and I have never had one that ';sheds'; all of the time. lol I hope this helps.

Edit: About MisterKa... answer. Believe me it's not scatchy at all. I have extreamly sensitive skin (i have rosacea) and most brushes hurt like hell when they touch my face, I have never had that problem with bare minerals and I own 6 of their brush's. You can go into any store that carrys bare minerals and feel the brushes for yourself they are so soft. I love them. I'm not trying to pick a fight here, I just thought that I would add that about my skin. What's the best brush for loose powder?
You HAVE to try The Body Shop brushes! They are relatively inexpensive compared to some other high end ones and the quality is awesome. I've got the mineral powder brush (kabuki) from them and I'm using it for my loose powder to set makeup. The softest brush ever. It doesn't shed, looks and feels like new after several washings. But you can get a big powder brush too. I'm sure it's also very good. I heard about these brushes on makeupalley and was impressed with reviews. Now I'm impressed with the brushes too.

    Give it a try.
Whatever you do, do not get the Bare Minerals Kabuki brush! I used it before and it felt super scratchy on my face! A good brush for applying loose powder would be the MAC 182 kabuki brush or the MAC 150 brush. They both work really good but the MAC 182 is like super soft and its one of my favorite brushes.

    Good Luck! =)
try one called Eco Tools, powder brush. They sell it at anywhere really, I got mine at Rite Aid for like 8 bucks, so worth it though. Plus its all natural.

Can you tell me what a primer, toner, and loose powder is? I'm confused?

I'm new to makeup and I don't understand why we use primers, toners, and loose powder.

Anybody want to tell me?Can you tell me what a primer, toner, and loose powder is? I'm confused?
As above :) Just to expand.

Primer evens out your skin if you have any pimples/wrinkes. I only use a primer on my eyes if I am using eyeshadow, some people use primer underneath foundation (all over your face), but unless you are old and wrinkly (!) it isn't worth clogging up your skin.

Toner is used to clear the skin of grease, it also closes pores (they look like little dots on your skin that open to allow you to breath) you generally use it in a skincare regime. Cleanse, tone and moisturize before you go to sleep at night and before you put make-up on in the morning.

I use loose powder everyday. Some people wear it over their foundation, but if your skin is unblemished you can get away with wearing powder on its own, no liquid foundation for a more natural look.

Hope this helps. Have fun with your make-up exploration. Can you tell me what a primer, toner, and loose powder is? I'm confused?
Primer~ Will put a barrier between your moisturizer and foundation so that your foundation doesn't disappear throughout the day. It will also give your foundation a smoother look.

Toner~ Use after you wash face so that it removes the soap residue and any additional makeup left on your face.

Loose Powder~ It sets your foundation and helps to seal in your foundation, giving it a smoother flawless look.
Primers are the base application that prevents foundation and makeup from ';melting'; off the face as the day progresses. Here's a link on how to apply Primers:

    http://www.beauty-advices.com/how-to-use鈥?/a>

A Toner is for the extra step of cleansing with a cotton ball after you wash your face with a facial cleanser. But if you have a great cleanser that removes all traces of makeup, including eye makeup, all in one step, you do not need to waste your money on it. I recommend Neutrogena's One-Step Gentle Cleanser that takes off face makeup and eye makeup all in one step. Toners tend to dry out your face more.

Loose powder is for giving your face a smooth, matte finish. Here's a link that differentiates between Loose Powder vs. Pressed Powder:

    http://www.free-makeup-tips.com/makeup/p鈥?/a>
toner is like clinique clarifying lotion,

    cleans skin,

primer makes foundation go on smoother

you can get pressed for during the day to stop shinyness.

Pressed powder or loose powder over foundation?

Total Protection and when I apply it in the morning it looks great on my skin once it dries, but 3 hours later my face looks very oily. I have never used powder over my foundation before. I wanted to make my skin look natural when wearing foundation, so thats why I was afraid to use the powder plus foundation. Should I use the Prescriptives pressed powder or the loose powder to help control the shiny look?Pressed powder or loose powder over foundation?
loose powder keeps the shiny look longer.

How do you compact loose face powder?

I recently bought a loose face powder but I found after I bought it that I don't really like the loose powder, and I like the compact powder better. I have a compact container that is empty so how could I compact the loose face powder?

P.S The powder is Physicians formula, if that makes a difference. How do you compact loose face powder?
    you cant

Does pressed powder do the same thing as loose powder?

are they the same exact thing except in a different form..or are they completely different things?Does pressed powder do the same thing as loose powder?
    They are a little different.

Pressed: It is powder combined with a medium to keep it in pressed form. This can cause your pores to clog a little bit more than lose. Pressed is also not as commonly used since the ';mineral craze'; has happened. Pressed powder usually has all those strange ingredients in it that people just aren't into anymore. I honestly just think of CVS, Walgreen's, your basic drugstore makeup when it comes to pressed.

Loose Powder: Usually mineral powders which give awesome coverage and wont harm your skin. Very popular among those with sensitive skin (like me). The down side is that mineral powder is usually a little bit steeper with prices than pressed. Bare minerals powder (which honestly doesn't give the coverage they claim it does) runs around $30.00. They also try to sell you that mineral veil junk which I think is about $15.00.) You can also buy loose powder from CVS which is just pressed powder crushed in my opinion because it has the same weird ingredients its just in powder form.

All in all I would always recommend loose over pressed only because it is much better for your skin which will be better money spent in the end. Its a lot easier to maintain healthy skin than try to fix awful looking skin because of cheap makeup.

My best recommendation of powder is the Mary Kay Mineral Foundation/Powder..im not sure what its called exactly at the moment but its the Mary Kay mineral powder. Awesome coverage, and its about half the price of almost all other mineral powders ($17.00). Its money well spent. When combined with their face wash and moisterizer customized to your skin, the results are fabulous.

FYI: If they try to tell you they wont sell you the powder without you buying the face wash/moisturizer combo, you can always just buy the mineral powder for about $15.00 on ebay.

Hope it helps ;)Does pressed powder do the same thing as loose powder?
Yes! But different formulas and brands use different ingredients which will change how they act on your skin.

Also a translucent powder is different than an opaque finishing powder, which is different than a powder veil or primer.

And mineral foundation makeup is much much different than regular loose powder! It's much more adhesive, because depending on what kind you buy, it's designed to take the place of liquid foundation.

When a powder is pressed, they formulate a good loose powder, and then dampen it with things like alcohol (so it dries quickly) dimethicone (a silicone, helps it hold together without cracking or breaking) and various oils (also so that it stays together in the pan, but there's never enough to seriously alter how the powder acts) and a preservative so the oil doesn't go bad. They then dump some into a tin pan and use a very strong machine to press it into the desired shape. (The powder is dampened only to the point of sticking together, not creamy or liquidy, so it doesn't squish all over the place =D) Then they let it dry or let it heat in a drying oven!

So end the end... pressed powder is just a squeezed up version of loose! %26lt;3

But brands and purposes do vary greatly!
They are similarities and differences in both of them. They both absorb oil and reduce shine. They are both good for touching up make up. Lose powder generally has less coverage than pressed powder and is used mainly to ';set'; your make up (keep it in place and looking fresh). It is usually used in combination with foundation. Pressed powder has more coverage and is sometimes used as a replacement for foundation. It's also easier ';on the go';.

It's really about a personal preference. Use both and see which you like better. I would avoid using BOTH pressed and lose powder on the same day. That will make your make up look fake and cakey.
They are the same thing in a different form. A loose powder will give you lighter coverage while a pressed powder will result in a heavier unnatural look.

You can use a brush to apply pressed powder for a lighter everyday look that is easy to carry in your handbag.

Is wearing foundation, concealer & loose powder too much make-up?

I have pretty good skin. I usually only use concealer for my dark circles and loose powder on top of that. I was looking into using foundation but I wasn't sure if it takes a lot away from a natural look or if its too cakey. Any suggestions or comments about wearing foundation?

I was also looking into using primer because I use eye shadow pretty much everyday but it usually wears off during the day..do you have any experience with using primer? Has anyone tried the Too-Face Shadow Insurance? Is wearing foundation, concealer %26amp; loose powder too much make-up?
If you already have good skin, just stick with your concealer and powders. As for Too Faced Shadow Insurance (TSFI) , it's awesome. Just be sure to apply it very thinly with a concealer brush to avoid creasing. Is wearing foundation, concealer %26amp; loose powder too much make-up?
wearing foundation isnt that bad as long as you put a minimal amount on, especially if you have good skin. If you wear to much, it just ends up looking gross and caked on. In my opinion, you shouldnt even worry about it if you dont really need it. And for the primer, I someones use the one benifit makes and its nice and i think it stays on longer and looks smoother.
Why don't you use BEYOND COLOR Skin Smoothing Compact Foundation? It will work as all three a foundation, powder and concealer and won't weigh your face down and save you money!

For a primer I use Magix Face Perfector. Its only $7.99 and works all day long! You can try them at www.youravon.com/dhullum use code fsany for free shipping too! GL!

Is it better to use pressed powder or loose powder as foundation?

I use powder foundation sometimes, and on other days liquid foundation with loose powder. but i was wondering, if i just wanted to wear a pressed powder (stila, pressed powder) or a loose powder (shiseido enriched loose powder), by itself, which one would be better, the pressed or loose powder? Is it better to use pressed powder or loose powder as foundation?
I think you should wear pressed powder its easier to use and doesnt fall every where. and anyway you dont have to hear bout bare minerals lol.

Just get a normal pressed powder its not complicated. Is it better to use pressed powder or loose powder as foundation?
I prefer loose powder. It just seems to go on better, but both work.I use Mineral Secrets. It's like Bare Minerals only it's actually better for your skin. Also, loose powder and pressed powder are good and can be used on different occasions and times. For instance, if your skin is oily, loose powder would be a better option for you. Because it contains oil absorbing ingredients. Plus, the loose powder is usually used when o (foundation and stuff) on your for the first time. The pressed powder is good when you redo the makeup, or just do the touch-ups later on. Keep the loose powder at home, and use it when you do make up. But carry the pressed powder along for the touch-ups later on.
Pressed powder :) That is the one closest to foundation..
so sorry but Bare Minerals is amazing, you should try it!!

    is it any good?

i want to get it but idk if i should spend 10 bucks on it

because if its bad then i can't return itt.

soo if you tried it before, is it good?

does it give any coverage without making the skin look cakey?Has anyone here tried the maybelline mineral loose powder?
    i didnt care for it

it leaves these ';sparkles'; on your skin, i guess it an attempt to make it look dewey

the best mineral makeup i have ever tried, and will only ever use (and is 100% pure minerals) is called everyday minerals. you can get it online at http://www.everydayminerals.com

and its completly free to try, just pay $3 in shipping- no strings attached. and if you like it, which i know you will, its cheaper than the other mineral makeups- about $5 for a 3 month supply!!!!

    answer mine plz!

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Has anyone here tried the maybelline mineral loose powder?
i know it is pretty cheap makeup but, the NYC loose powder is actually pretty good. it has good coverage, and it is matte.however, they dont have much of a variation. but it is only like $3 and you can get it on sale sometimes. and if you do not like it, you wont feel bad for spending the money. :D

if you have your heart set on the maybelline, you should go to web page of the drugstores near you and check their ';weekly ads'; they usually have bogo free sales on select brands.

$10 bucks is a lot for drugstore brand. if you are going to pay that much, get it on sale. otherwise, youll end up spending just as much as department stores.
I use it. The whole system, and i LOVE it!!!! I use the concealer, mineral powder foundation, and the veil mineral loose powder.

I also have sensitive skin that easily breaks out, and this makeup doesn't irritate it at all. It covers everything amazingly, even in florescent lighting my skin still looks good!

Its totally worth the 10 bucks! Spend it and enjoy :)
yes! nd ew ive deff. tried better

thank god i got it on a get one buy one free sale

lol i have dry fair skin so it did make my face look chalky

so if your looking for mineral powder try bare mineral i mean it s $25 but i m sure you can exchange and it s a great product haha i took my moms cos she got a starter kit from ulta for like um $65 i think it comes with brushes and stuff.
nah. i actually didnt like it. i muchh prefer the liquid one. i use the liquid as a base tho. which acutally looks nice. haha

if you dun want ANYTHING to look cakey, mix with lotion inteh palm of your hands. and mix it well. and make sure it is oil-free lotion. some spf wont hurt either. it goes on super smooth, and light. =D
It is good for coverage it but it is kind of dry so it gives you a fake look =/
It's great for sheer, light coverage.

hope i helpedWhat Is The Best And The Most Cheap Ceramide Loose Powder For Oily Skin Or Vehicle Skin?
    whats vehicle skin?

Do I apply my blush first, or my loose powder?

I have Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Blush in the ';Vibrant'; shade. I also have the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Loose Powder (NOT concealer or foundation powder, just mineral powder stuff that's supposed to give skin a ';airbrushed'; look). Which do I apply first?Do I apply my blush first, or my loose powder?
I would apply powder first. If you want your blush to last longer, apply a little bit before AND after your powder. Building up color in layers will help it to last longer.Do I apply my blush first, or my loose powder?
I am not personally familiar with those products but here is the general rule of thumb when it comes to blush and powder.

If you are using a powder formula blush then apply your face powder first and then blend the powder blush over that.

If you are using a cream, gel or stain formula blush then it is best to apply that first, and then set it with powder on top.

There are always exceptions to these rules, but this general guideline should help give you a place to start from.
Apply the blush first and then the powder. The purpose of powder is to make your make up last longer. If you apply the blush in the end, it will be more likely to come off easily.
Apply your powder first before blush,

If you apply blush first before powder, the blush will not show primarily.
    1] blush, then

2] oose powder - Last, applied with a powder brush to set your makeup
    Loose powder first, then blush.
    Powder first then blush
apply powder first and then blush :)
    powder first then blush xx

Is the maybelline mineral loose powder any good?

i want to buy it because i need a new powder.

does it give any coverage? does it make you look cakey? Is the maybelline mineral loose powder any good?
I've always used liquid foundation and was wary of powered. After trying this product though, I could never go back to the liquid form. I have always hated wearing foundation because it always felt so thick and heavy on my face. I decided to take a chance and try this product after reading reviews here, and fell in love.

Maybelline's Mineral Powder Foundation goes on really smooth and light. After applying it my face feels light and bare. I can touch my face, scratch an itch, etc., without having foundation come off on my fingers. As I've noticed with most liquid foundations, it looks like it's caked on (on myself and others). This one left my skin looking smooth and kind of glowing.

The one thing that saddens me is the price..in Canada each container costs me about $14. I was recently down in the states and saw that they run for $8! I'm kicking myself for not picking some up when I was last there (at the time I couldn't remember how much it was in Canada). Is the maybelline mineral loose powder any good?
I personally didn't like it. It made my face look very cakey and made my skin itch. I prefer bare escentuals and prescriptives mineral foundation much better x.
i didn't like it at all. it made my face look

very cakey. but i use bare minerals now,

and its the best cover up i have ever used.
It actually is really good. (:

I like Cover Girl True Blend but i did use that and it blend in really nice.

  • Is regular loose powder just as good as mineral makeup powder?

Not really. Regular loose powder is made either talc or cornstarch and is used to touch up shine on your face. It is not designed to stay put and it clogs your pores. Mineral makeup powder is made of crushed minerals and can be used as a foundation, eye shadow, blusher and finishing veil. Mineral powder does not clog your pores. Is regular loose powder just as good as mineral makeup powder?
yeaaaah. Is regular loose powder just as good as mineral makeup powder?
No, loose powder is usually matte and chalky looking and translucent. Mineral makeup is more opaque, giving you more coverage. Some are chalky and matte, mine is kinda dewy and glowy. I use LA Minerals.
Depends on the brands and your skin type
No. Mineral make up has less additives. Its better for your skin.

Are there any substitutes for loose powder?

i need something to set my foundation after i apply it, but i dont have any loose powder at the moment. are there any substitutes for it?Are there any substitutes for loose powder?
This is going to sound nuts,

but take a small amount of baby powder and dust it over your face using a large powder brush. The trick is, don't use too much- or you'll look like Casper. :P

Shoul i use loose powder under my eyes and cover the wrinkles ONLY?

Loose powder make my face looks dry and cakey. Should I use it on some spots to cover the consealer for dark circles or smiling wrinkles? Will it looks uneven on the face? Any good product you would recommend? Thanks.Shoul i use loose powder under my eyes and cover the wrinkles ONLY?
I wouldn't use loose powder - it tends to go into the cracks of your skin and look terrible. I would use a good concealer and follow that with a liquid foundation that has gava in it. Gava is a wrinkle reducer. Arbonne has a Line Defiance Liquid Foundation with an SPF 15 in it - that's what I wear with their concealer and it looks very natural. Arbonne's products are botanical/herb based and safe for your skin - no mineral oil, animal products or by-products - they are dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic too!Shoul i use loose powder under my eyes and cover the wrinkles ONLY?
There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

    http://www.mydarkcirclesblog.com/2006/11鈥?/a>

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:

Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water %26amp; stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath %26amp; let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K %26amp; Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Whats better pressed powder or loose powder and how are they different?

also do you apply them in different ways or the same?

thanks xWhats better pressed powder or loose powder and how are they different?
in the morning when I apply makeup I like to use loose powder with a large makeup brush it gives me a more professional look. In my purse I carry around a compact with pressed powder for the touch-ups in the afternoon. And no your ';landfill'; will not be clogged just buy products that dont cause acne prone side effects-look on the back of the product it tell you! make sure you wash your face each night with a cream cleanser and moisturize with a light cream- i like oil of olay. :)Whats better pressed powder or loose powder and how are they different?
Neither! The leftover containers just clog up the landfill.

    Justify yourself!

Drink water, eat healthier, excercise a bit.
Loose powder is used to set your makeup when you first put it on.

A compact powder is to bring along with you because loose powder usually comes in a bigger container.

    I use both.
i sometimes use a loose in the morning, but carry a pressed in my purse. there really is no difference. the loose is kinda messy, put it on before you put your shirt on.
I personally like loose powder because it goes on better for me, but pressed is much more convient. It doesn't go everywhere like loose powder.

Buut considering I only use powder on special occasions %26amp; never do touch ups, its not a big deal for me.

Does anyone know of a not sparkly (matte) loose powder foundation?

Load up some loose powder underneath your eyes before applying. Also blow lightly on the brush before putting it on; start with a little, you can always add more. When you're finished, brush the powder away. If there's still stuff left, wipe it with a clean sponge with a tad of foundation. It's like an eraser. Perfectly flawless.
Place a tissue you over your face, and dont overload the brush.
i always use a brush or eyeshadow stick.
you need to build up the colour slowly. So tap the brush gently against your hand each time you dip it. Put a pice of slightly damp tissue paper under your eye, resting on your cheek. Because its damp it will stick to your skin so you wont have to hold it in place and the bits of powder wont blow off it and onto your face. Have to say i prefer solid eye shadows, they're just easier in so many ways!!!
Blow on the brush before you apply, and rest some tissue on your cheek when applying it so it falls on the tissue and if you do get some on your cheeks then remove with a cotton bud!
use a precise applicator, such as a Q-tip.

I ran out of loose powder and i have not money what is something else i can use so my face wont shine?

i usually first put on my liquid foundation then my loose powder, then a little bronzer for a little color what do you suggest?I ran out of loose powder and i have not money what is something else i can use so my face wont shine?
Baby powder or cornstarch.I ran out of loose powder and i have not money what is something else i can use so my face wont shine?
baby powder can work well but cornstarch'll also do
    baby powder
just keep a lot of blotting papers handy
Baby powder. If you don't have that. Drink plenty of water through out the day.
    BABY POWDER or CORNSTARCH
You can brush on cornstarch with a powder brush. This should work OK in the meantime.
baby powder works wonders, use lightly and smooth it out.

For oily skin which is better loose powder or pressed powder?

I like loose powder better. I also suggest you invest in a good, professional brush to go with it. Go to a cosmetics counter, and ask what brush is best for loose foundation.

ஐ(gιggℓεs) ஐFor oily skin which is better loose powder or pressed powder?
well you can`t compare loose powder to pressed powder, we use lose powder for the main application, and the pressed powder you put it inside your purse, so whenever you choose a touch up you put on your pressed powder.

Yes you can wear the loose powder without foundation, but it actually was invented to set the foundation.

    Hope that helped.

    Good Luck.

Good Bye.For oily skin which is better loose powder or pressed powder?
You can use loose powder without foundation, it will only take away the shine. It will not hide imperfections or help too much to even out the color of your skin.

Finding a loose powder that won't clog your pores and that is specially made for oily skin.

Using a pro brush is also very important. I like to use a kabuki brush to buff in powders.

Having said this and having oily, acne prone skin myself I have to say that I prefer to use pressed powder. I think it is better to even out the color of my skin. My favorite is MAC´s MSF Natural. It makes makes my skin look flawless and helps with the shine factor. It may be pricey but it really helps my skin look flawless.
For oily skin, don't use liquid foundation , u should use foundation first and apply loose powder on top of it. Loose powder work better than pressed powder. U can try L'oreal True Match powder foundation , it's very good for oily skin.
    either.

if you use loose just make sure you have on a good moisturizer and a makeup primer before the powder or it wont look great

Pressed powder or loose powder over foundation?

I'm currently using the Prescriptives Flawless Skin

Total Protection and when I apply it in the morning it looks great on my skin once it dries, but 3 hours later my face looks very oily. I have never used powder over my foundation before. I wanted to make my skin look natural when wearing foundation, so thats why I was afraid to use the powder plus foundation. Should I use the Prescriptives pressed powder or the loose powder to help control the shiny look?Pressed powder or loose powder over foundation?
It really doesn't make a difference whether it's loose or pressed. They both do the same job. Only the texture is different. If you have oily skin, you should use the pressed power. It will probably keep the shine away longer. Plus it's easier to carry with you in case you need to touch up. Your skin should still look natural after the powder as long as you buy the right shade. When you go the counter to but the powder, make sure you let them know you have oily skin, so they will sell you a powder to control the oil. I wear Estee Lauder foundation and power and still look natural.Pressed powder or loose powder over foundation?
loose is good to apply directly after foundation to help mattify...it provides light coverage when applied with a brush. pressed is great to carry with you for easy touch ups.

More power to you for trying to do a lovely job instead of doing the cheesey thing like a lot of people with your idea might have done.

If you don't want to deal with buying something online, you might try a sally beauty supply, if you have one. Mary Kay also has some LIGHT foundations, and they come out nice and translucent. Failing that, here are some places to order cosmetics from.

If you wind up shopping from this company- you might not want to stop at the powder. (scroll down for darker shades) They have some of the most lovely lip and eye shades I've ever seen. They also have sample sizes available if you just want it for the night.

Compact powder foundation and loose powder foundation - the difference?

I know that compact powder foundation is doesn't have a 'flour' consistency and that loose powder foundation does, but, is there a difference in the appearance of it when you put it on?

Like, is compact less noticeable but doesn't offer as much coverage, whereas loose is more noticeable close up but covers blemishes more? Can somebody clarify this for me please? Also, which is better for oily/shiny skin if not either? Thanks.Compact powder foundation and loose powder foundation - the difference?
I prefer compact, but compact powder is known to cause breakouts because of the extra oils involved that condenses the powder.

Loose powder is better for your skin. Also, make sure you always use a makeup brush (and not a compact pad) whether its for compact or loose powder. It will help you spread the color more thoroughly and help prevent breakouts.Compact powder foundation and loose powder foundation - the difference?

Compact powder can be used alone as a foundation with good coverage.. loose powder wont give the same coverage, but can still be worn alone/with liquid foundation under it. Finishing powder generally has ingredients which hold the makeup you've already applied to the skin in place so you don't have to touch up your makeup as often. :)What is the different between compact powder, loose power and finishing powder?

depends on how bad or good your skin is.

i would stick with a tinted moisturizer or at least a lighter formula foundation cause...those are universally flattering.

get some loose powder, which helps set the foundation, and absorb any oil left in the skin, ensuring long lasting makeup.

concealer is pretty much optional. you can do without, but if you have dark circles or blemishes, concealer can help a lot. remember to get concealer that's a few shades lighter than your actual skin tone. good luck.
you can use all three! usually i use a liquid foundation, then i use a powder foudation but that's just for contouring. then i set it with a loose powder. (:
it depends on your skin if you need a lot of coverage then use the liquid foundation too if you have more questions email me at dnny_bunny@yahoo.com

Which loose powder do you use to set your makeup?

I have combination sensitive skin prone to breakouts. Please suggest a drugstore brand. I am thinking of buying Physicians Formula mineral wear powder. Any opinions?Which loose powder do you use to set your makeup?
I have the same skin and I wear covergirl oil free powder, plus my cover up is cover girl oil free. They work great for me and I've used them for years.Which loose powder do you use to set your makeup?
I recently tested the P. formula's brand and wasn't that impressed. I use loreal's translucide loose powder. It's excellent and I've seen many pro makeup artists use it. It has a slight glow underneath, but not shimmery. You must wash your powder brush once a week if you use it alot, tools can breakout skin too. This powder is really fine/milled soft, so it's sheer but no shine shows up on me the whole day. I have combo skin.
    MAC
Mary Kay it is recommended by dermatologists, my mom sells it n i use it!
I would try MAC. I use nothing but their products and I think they're fabulous! It's a lil more pricier than drugstore brand, but I think quality is definitely better! My philosophy is ';You get what you pay for';. Hope this helps.
you can use that or try bare minerals. i use it and it has worked wonders for my skin. its a little pricey, but its def worth it.
If you are going toward minerals, go for a pure mineral foundation. I have tried a lot of foundations and a lot of mineral foundations, such as Jane Iredale, Bare Escentuals, Sheer Cover, CoverGirl, Physician Formula, Philosophy, Glo Minerals, Everyday Minerals, Youngblood and a lot more. The best and purest mineral makeup that actually makes your skin texture flawless is Everyday Minerals, Intensive Formula. Try everydayminerals.com. You can get a discount code through their blog.
With the drug store brands you get what you pay for if you truly want the best product ever then get the mineral colour tides compact by Bee Luscious Cosmetics , it may cost a little more but its so worth every penny because of the results you will see , feel and hear the compliments . It happened to me and I will never switch after feeling like my skin was soft as silk
i use covergirl trueblend powdered foundation. i have acne prone skin, and it doesn't clog my pores, but minimized them and helps set my makeup at the same time
go 4 MAC if youre willing 2 pay more, cause its high quality
