Self explanatory.What's the difference in between concealer, foundation and loose/finishing powder?
Generally, concealer is used to hide blemishes including discolorations from acne, dark circles under the eyes or more challenging skin problems such as melasma (dark spots) or rosacea (red shiny patches). Concealer usually comes in skin colored pigments or purple/green colored pigments. Also concealer is sometimes a liquid to be applied with a brush or often in a lipstick form.
Foundation usually is a light, smooth skin-colored cream or liquid to be applied over your entire face (don't forget your neck, decolletage and ears) that in general, matches your skin's undertones and evens out skin coloration. Sometimes you can skip concealer and just apply a little foundation to those trouble spots only and move on. The experts will advise to get a foundation with SPF-30 to prevent premature aging. I agree in this. Luckily my foundation (Revlon Age-Defying with Botafirm) suits me to a T.
Finally, you would want to use powder to either set your foundation (so it doesn't smear) or else to keep your skin from showing oil. Generally I use a big powder brush to apply a little loose powder to set my foundation since I don't have oily skin. If you have oily skin you may want to try a sponge or puff applicator to apply a caked powder since it generally lasts longer.
In all three categories, color matching is critical importance. If you have time, try to get a professional makeup artist to match your skin and get a sample. If you want, you can try to match the color at the drugstore to a cheaper color. I did this since my skin is very hard to match. concealer: covers blemishes that are concentrated in one area. like spots/acne.
foundation: all over coverage for discoloration, just to even out skin tone, etc.
finishing powder: brightens face, mattifies it, can be used for touchups when you don't want to overcake it, are mostly translucent.
i'll add one, just an fyi.
primer: used before all those i just listed to set makeup, so it applies evenly. also mattifies the skin.

Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Liquid Foundation or Loose Powder?
I have been wanting to buy Physicians Formula's mineral products for quite a time, but I don't know if I should buy the liquid foundation, or the loose powder.
I have post-acne marks, and still sometimes get a zit, which one would provide the best coverage to hide the marks, and give me smooth and even skin?
And please don't mention any other products.

I tried their talc-free mineral powder and absolutely fell in love with it. The color was excellent and it looked very natural. I prefer using powders to cover blemishes because my skin tends to be oily and it did the job. I also noticed my skin stayed pretty clear for the most part. Also, the container lasted about three months using it every day. So it's definetly worth the price.
i use the loose powder if has really good coverage and looks natural. i use a little concealer under it also on red areas
I like their loose opwder better, since im like...uh, oh so white.
It blends better than the foundation.
But its all up to you.
If you prefer powder over liquid foundation then go for the powder.

Foundation gives you a clear complexion.
It gives you a clear canvas to work on.

Foundation: Comes in formulas such as liquid, loose powder, pressed powder, cream, mousse, spray, wet to dry, etc. This is used to even out the skin tone, help reduce redness. Generally used on the entire face, or can be used in specific areas such as cheeks and nose to cover redness.
Powders: These are designed to set foundation. There are pressed setting powders, which will give heavier coverage, and there are loose setting powders, which give finer results.
Both are just to even out your complexion ( get rid of small red bumps ect.). I like to use tinted moisturizer ( so its light and good for you) and then set it with transluscent loose powder. Its very light but gives you a healthy glowing look!!

Compact Powder is pressed into the compact and loose powder is obviosly just loose. If you like a light finsih loose powder is ideal as you can just brush it right over your make-up. Pressed powder is convenient to carry around and depends which brand, some are more pigments/coloured than the loose powders.

How does misting your face after foundation and loose powder help ';set'; your makeup?
It can help set your make up - powder includes ingredients such as talc and fine clays. I am not into going to give a chemistry lesson. Put simply, the properties of clays and talc will react with the misted water, just like if you add water to flour, and the clay particles stick to the skin and each other. I don't know too much about misting the face after foundation. But I use loose powder after applying foundation to give it more of a matte finish. If you use the right foundation, you don't need to do anything else to it to make sure that it stays on and looking good throughout the day. I used it, and it didn't give me break outs, it had good coverage also, the only reason i switched is because my mom bought Purity mineral make-up from one of those commercials. It works like bare minerals and its amazingg!!
And you don't even have to get fair to look natural just the one above it and it comes with mineral blush and the sheer to go over afterwards. hope i helped

Plus they give coverage alright but not as they show u in adds... as u can get from a foundation.. If u need for a daily lil touch up it will be fine %26amp; u can have it on in few sec's %26amp; u r good to go.... but if u r going to aparty or something or need a full coverage i wont recommand it.
